Who is Eligible for NZ Youth Payment
There are certain eligibility criteria that are to be followed to receive the youth payment. The basic requirements are discussed in this section.
- The age limit to receive the allowance is 16 to 18 years.
- The candidates should not be living with their parents or guardians.
- There should not be any source of income or additional income support from their close ones.
- The candidates should be habitual residents of the country and should provide the documents to prove their residency.

NZ Youth Payment Age Limit
The minimum age limit for receiving the allowance is 16 years old. the candidates between 16 to 19 will receive support till ther are independent and have a source of income.
If the candidates are married and have the responsibility of raising the baby, they will be receiving additional support for foster care. The minimum time to receive the Guaranteed Child Assistance is 20 years old.
NZ Youth Payment Amount
The amount is paid on a weekly frequency. The minimum amount that the single will be receiving is $294.18 and the gross amount is expected to be around $333.65. The married couple living together will receive the amount of $574.70 with a gross income of $650.72. If the couple gets separated due to illness, divorce, or the death of one of the spouses, the other partner will recover the amount of $287.65 with a net income of $325.75.
The additional amount for the hospital charges of $52.89 will be issued with the annual deposit. The candidates will receive an extra allowance of $10 per week if they are enrolled in the course for more than 6 months. The extra amount will be granted to the candidates having the assistance provided by the Youth service manager. The youth living in the northern part of the country will be receiving support as the Winter Fuel Allowance.
