Message of the Pr.CCIT, Gujarat on Income Tax Day 2020

Dear Friends,

The foundation day of any organization or for that matter any country brings pride and joy to its members and we are no different. The income tax day that we all celebrate on 24th July is both a commemoration of all the service that the department has given to the nation as well as a reminder of what we as a group have to do so in future for nation building. I as the head of Gujarat Income-tax family, congratulate and thank each one of you for your services.

The raison d’être of our department is our esteemed clients - our respected taxpayers. I would like to urge my colleagues to reaffirm our pledge to keep the welfare and service of our taxpayers at the forefront & design and implement all our processes around it. Let me also take this opportunity to reach out to millions of our tax payers and assure them of the best taxpayer services.

We are striving daily to transform ourselves from an enforcement agency to a service provider. In these difficult times of the pandemic, we are, under the guidance of CBDT, trying our best to issue refunds at the earliest and mitigate the hardship of our taxpayers by resolving their grievances on top priority. I would also like to urge the taxpayers to take the benefit of the seamless digital transactions enabled by the department in the form of revised form 26AS and expanded scope of TDS and TCS, so that they can file or revise (if already filed) their return of income  for AY 2019-20 by 31.07.2020, as may be required.

My team is duty bound and committed to extend the maximum possible help, as per law, to our esteemed assessees. As we move towards faceless assessment, rest assured the stoic face of the department will recede and fade and a more humane and benign face will emerge.

Wish you all Happy Income-tax Day, 2020

Jai Hind.

Pritam Singh,

Pr.CCIT, Gujarat
